At Nike, we believe in the power of sport to move the world.   We know when kids play and are active, they lead healthier, happier and more successful lives.  But the reality is that kids are moving less and less, girls are dropping out of sport at 2x the rate of boys and the COVID-19 pandemic has made leveling the playing field for girls even more challenging.   In order to ensure girls have the same opportunities to play now and in the future, we’re focusing on providing coaches of all levels and genders with experiences and resources to inspire girls to keep playing. 

In celebration of #MambaWeek, we invite you to join Nike and We Coach for a 90-minute interactive session to help coaches engage girls in sport.   Led by We Coach training experts, participants will learn innovative techniques centered around five key themes: building a team culture that works for girls, creating connection with girls, fostering competition, focusing on progress not outcomes, and encouraging girls to be brave not perfect.   Coaches will leave the training with a better understanding of strategies and resources to support girls (and all kids!) in play and sport.

We’re excited to announce the Mambacitas Virtual Academy opportunity for all girls ages 11-17.  This Game Growers experience will take place on Saturday, August 29 from 12:00pm – 1:45 pm PDT:

• 12:00pm PDT:  Mambacita Virtual Academy.  This experience will bring programming developed by Nike’s W.I.N. cohort to life, engaging girls in movement and wellness, and special appearances by athletes and influencers.  This will kick off a series of Virtual Academy programming on Saturdays in September and October.   Girls can register through the link below.
• 1:15pm PDT:  Game Growers Film Premiere.   The Game Growers film, a short inspiration piece that highlights Season One, will launch following the Mambacita Academy.  This film will tell the story of girls across the country who are striving to create more opportunities for girls in sports.
